What's Next For Apple?

First update appears to be the eMac. Rumors of impending eMac update appeared a few weeks ago on ThinkSecret. The eMac is expected to see small speed bumps in the near future. Apple's Keyboard and Mouse are also expected to see minor revisions in the near future. Just today, word of a minor iSync update was revealed, while iChat has been expected to gain Videoconferencing as its next major capability. The most exciting rumors -- those of the PowerPC 970 -- will come due in the next two months, at the World Wide Developers Conference . WWDC was delayed until late June, which spawned both rumors and speculation that the PPC970 was responsible.

"No prints or book ordering in iPhoto 2 from outside the United States. Sherlock 3 has great features, but none worth anything outside North America," writes the petition's creator. "And now a music service with [questionable availability to international customers]." Back in January, a petition was launched for tab support in Safari and collected more than 4000 digital signatures. "We demand that Apple Computer Inc. take a much more serious stance on supporting the 50% of their customers who abide in countries other than the United States," concludes the petition.

"Coming soon to a TV screen near you will be a series of commercials depicting people singing while listening to an iPod. You can't hear the music they're singing along with, you hear only their voices. The ads are memorable--and there is little chance they won't make an impression: You will be curious about the product being advertised," writes Forbes.com. Read The Full Feature at Forbe Web Site.

Billboard leaks details on Apple music service

Billboard scoop that "high-quality design and simplicity of use are to be the hallmarks of the new digital music service from Apple Computer," as it offers. The article notes that the service will feature songs from high-profile artists not previously available via online services: service is an a la carte download store -- not unlike that of rival Liquid Audio -- that is built into Apple's iTunes player. No subscription is required for the service, and tracks are expected to retail for an average of 99 cents. Once purchased, tracks are transferred to the consumer's iTunes music library and are automatically synched to the user's iPod portable player. "

"Content can also be burned to CD. Credit-card information is stored on file in the store's shopping-cart system so the consumer does not have to re-enter the information for each purchase. The offering is expected to be made available initially only to users of Apple computers."

Apple Applies For Rotary Mouse Patent

According to an article at The Mac Observer, Apple has applied for a patent on an interesting new mouse idea . A rotary disc on the surface of the mouse can be pushed straight down as a mouse button, tilted forward or back to scroll vertically, and tilted side to side for horizontal scrolling. In other words, it's a rotary scroll wheel! Could it be so? Could we soon see Apple-branded, multibutton, scrolling mice?"
