Dashboard widget site launched

Thought I'd get the word out about a new site for news, tutorials, downloads, and discussion about Dashboard and Widget development. It's a free resource (AdSense-supported) I put together because I thought Dashboard could use something like this.

Apple reports $290 million profit; 5.3 million iPods ship

Apple Computer on Wednesday reported a profit of US$290 million for the fiscal second-quarter of 2005. The company said that 1,070,000 Macintosh units and 5,311,000 iPods were shipped during the quarter, which ended March 26, 2005. This represents a 43 percent increase in CPU units and a 558 percent increase in iPods over the year-ago quarter.

Apple offers Tiger, iLife, iWork bundle

Alongside the shipping announcement of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, Apple today added a special package to its online store that bundles Tiger, iLife '05 (iPhoto 5, iMovie HD, iDVD 4, GarageBand 2 and iTunes 4.7.1), and iWork '05 (Keynote 2 and Pages) for $249 (USD)-- a savings of $38. The bundle must be purchased from the online Apple Store or by phone at 1-800-MY-APPLE before May 31, 2005.

Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger to ship April 29

Apple today announced that Mac OS X version 10.4 “Tiger” will go on sale Friday, April 29, beginning at 6:00 p.m. during special events at Apple’s retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers. Tiger has more than 200 new features and innovations including Spotlight, a revolutionary desktop search technology that lets users instantly find anything stored on their Mac, including documents, emails, contacts and images; and Dashboard, a new way to instantly access important information like weather forecasts and stock quotes, using a dazzling new class of applications called widgets.
