The iPod With Video Saga Part 3
Well, it's been more than 20 days now since I have sold my trusted iPod G3, in the spirit of getting the brand new iPod G5 with video. I had my mind set on a 30 Gig model, and if you recall I could not for the love of god put my hand on one.
Well thursday night after work on my way home in a winter-storm, I stopped at (yet another) BestBuy in the north east end of Montreal. The store was not exactly busing with clients, so I had almost all the sales people at my service. When I asked to see if they had any "New" iPod Models, I was ready to ear (again) that they had only shuffles, nano and of course about half a dozen iPod 5G 60 Gigs. To my surprise they had about 6, 30 Gigs models in stock.
Did my heart stop, or race, I don't remember....
The next obvious question was: "Do you have it in black"?
"Well of course" said the salesperson looking at me like I was a retard.
"We even have 2 return Products at a great discount price"
Love at first sight!
Got a return one for about 25% off. It was and still is in great shape.
Not a scratch (that I can do on my own).
I made sure to inspect both the iPod and the content of the (now so slim) box.
Ok, let's see: One top shape 30 Gig Black iPod, one USB 2.0 Cable, One Quick Start guide, one set of Apple earphone, one leaflet warrantee, one c.d. (With iTune and iPod Software. one cradle adapter (just a useless piece of plastic), one pair of earbud covers, 2 apple Logo stickers, and that is it. No wait... What is this ? Ho, that must be the iPod transport case, Man they call this white slap of white thin neoprene thing a case.... Look more like a cheap shirt pocket pen holder from the dollar store.
Finally! I have my new iPod with video! And not a minute to soon. I was kind of contemplating the idea of living without one now. I no longer feel the withdrawal syndrome.
I can't wait to get home and "play" with it.
But first I am worry about the new USB 2.0 cable. My Mac only as a USB 1.0 card. The one that they propose me at the store would have run me more than 65$. Are they nuts? No way.
Wish Apple would have stick with the FireWire. Now I have a hunch that my transfers will be slow as molasses.
furthermore I have to protect the new iPod with clear film, so i don't get it scratch. And I should not have let go my original iPod cradle, and my external BTI iPod Battery. These are essentials when you own a iPod. Lucky for me I still have a batch of Pod Shield invisible scratch protection film by Trendy Geek. I will also need a protection case. I know to well after owning 3 iPod and by my friend "Many" who one day was "dancing" at work and bumped his 4G color iPod what can happen when you don't protect one. Many is still paying for his, but can't use it since he shattered the color screen. My heart goes to you Many.
So that is the end of the Saga. Starting next week I will report on my "new life" with the iPod with video.
