Apple Confirms that Panther will be a 32-bit OS

Apple Confirms Panther As 32-bit OS

"The Register is confirming that Panther will be a 32-bit OS. It seems that IBM built a bridge mode into their processor that allows 32-bit Operating Systems to take advantage of the 64-bit address space (mentioned in the Register article). Thus, Panther will be 32-bit, but will be able to take advantage of 64-bit applications and address space. This seems like a solid strategy to hint to developers to write 64-bit applications but not leave users in the dust with no working applications for their computers."
