'Tiger' Already a Top Seller at Amazon

Ahead of its expected public release in mid-April, Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger" is already a #1 seller at Amazon.com. Amazon is offering a $35.00 mail-in rebate for the $129.99 Tiger retail box, bringing the final cost down to $94.99. Windows XP Home, meanwhile, currently sits at #16 on Amazon's software chart.

PSP Selling, But Not as Planned

According to at least one analyst, Sonys PlayStation Portable may not be selling as well as the company may have expected. In a survey of 150 retail locations, American Technology Research found that only one-third of the locations had sold out. Of the remaining stores, 15 had less than three units in stock.

McAfee Prepares New Antivirus Engine

McAfee is preparing to test a new antivirus scanning engine. The 5000 series engine is the core mal-ware detection and repair component for much of McAfee's security software product line up. The beta schedule begins with Beta 1 in early April and concludes with a release to the Web in September.

Mac OS X 10.4 'Tiger' Goes Gold

According to a report in AppleInsider, development of Mac OS X 10.4 is complete. Sources say that build 8A428 of the new operating system, known as "Tiger," has been declared gold master and Apple is expected to make an announcement soon. A final candidate of Tiger was released to developers earlier this week.

Best Buy To Sell Mac mini In Stores?

According to reports, electronics retailer Best Buy is preparing to sell the Mac mini in stores.

Although Apple has still not officially announced a release date for Mac OS X Tiger, today, Amazon has started a mail-in rebate for Apple's forthcoming operating system major release. Regular price for Tiger is $129.99 while Amazon offers $34.99 of mail-in rebate which brings the price to only $94.99

Adobe Creative suite 2.0 details leaked

ThinkSecret (among other sites), reports that Adobe has accidentally leaked details of the next release of its core business product, Creative Studio 2.0. According to the information leaked on Adobe's site, the software suite will be released in May. ThinkSecret's posting, quoting the leaked page of the site, also mentions pricing

Mac OS X 10.3.9 imminent?

Accoding to AppleInsider, Mac OS X Panther 10.3.9 update is ready for release as soon as this week. Recent builds, numbered 7W86 and 7W87, provided by Apple to developers, are probably the last seeds for this update of Panther.

The Adobe Photographers Directory will be initially available in North America and over time will be extended to include photographers from other markets. Adobe will be working with the American Society of Media Photographers to establish the new directory. ASMP has also launched a web site today explaining how photographers can sign up to participate. Adobe will also be working with the Advertising Photographers of America and other associations to ensure the Adobe Photographers Directory is a comprehensive professional photography resource.

Econ Technologies on Wednesday released ChronoSync 3, the latest version of its synchronization and backup utility. This upgrade offers a redesigned interface and several new features, including the ability to automatically awaken a Mac to perform schedule operations, the option to control all synchronizations from a status bar, file change detection based on seven file properties that can be turned on or off to customization the synchronization process and more.
