ATI Introduce New Mobility Radeon 9700

ATI Technologies Inc. introduced its Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics processor the latest generation of the same type of graphics chip found in Apple's PowerBook G4. ATI has lauded the chip as the first low-k graphics solution for notebooks, an important milestone in saving power and improving speed at smaller scales than has been available previously.

No Strach Press Impressive Line Up

No Starch Press has released "Wicked Cool Shell Scripts" by Dave Taylor, a new book that helps users of Mac OS X, Unix and Linux get the most out of the main scripting languages their operating systems use. The book offers 101 different ways to customize the Unix shell. It is a new offering in what seem to be a long list of must have books from No Starch Press. We believe that No Starch are on to something.

Half-Life 2 gets new release date after hackers steal game's source code. When Gabe Newell, founder of Valve Software, confirmed last October that hackers had wormed their way into the developer's network and stolen the source code to "Half-Life 2," it sent shock waves through the gaming industry. "Half-Life 2," you see, wasn't just a title any gamer worth his or her salt was drooling over, it was the title industry insiders were counting on to help revive the struggling PC gaming business.
We are still wishing for a Mac version of this great game.

Matrox Announce New Driver for Final Cut Pro 4.1.1

Matrox has announced new, v4.1 drivers for its Matrox RTMac product, which brings support for Mac OS 10.3.x, QuickTime 6.4 or later, and Final Cut Pro 4.1.1, but not for the G5: "Please note that no new features are included with this updater. It is only required for Matrox RTMac users running Final Cut Pro 4.1.1. NoteThe RTMac 4.1 drivers will not work with Final Cut Pro 4.0. If you want to use RTMac with Final Cut Pro 3 or 4 (Mac OS X), you must use Matrox RTMac version 4.0." An RTMac 4.1

G5 To Power New XBox

The Mercury News reports that the new XBox will reportedly use a trio of G5 processors. In addition to the G5 chip at its heart, it will run a new ATi chip that can handle full 1080i and 720p HDTV imaging. Of course all of this remain to be seen.
