App. of the Week: Delicious Library

Only ounce in a "Blue Moon" do we get our hands on a real, genuine, truly ground breaking application for the Mac that is so much fun and so well design that it brings us to stop and say -"Man I am the happiest Mac user in the world!" And that's what Delicious Library is all about. Don't get me wrong we have tried many of these Library Apps. in the past; some are fun , others are well design, but none of them are as clever as the Delicious One.

Let's begin again: Who is it for

Well let say that you are the proud owner of well....30 Books, 100 CD, maybe add to that 15 DVD then you are a prime candidate for Delicious Library. If you want to manage your "Stuff" in a simple, smart and intuitive way; this App. has your name written all over it. The data Input process (read what you will put on your virtual shelves) is painless to say the least.
Many options, so many in fact that we where blown away; -Manually enter data, or partial data get piped to a "web action Module" that will find the rest of the missing data thanks to the internet. How about Scanning the Bar Codes to reveal data straight using your iSight; We tried it and it really works! Not impressed yet....ok.....How about Wireless bluetooth Bar Code Scanning (optional hardware required). Now you are impress! Just like I knew You would

And that's not All Folks

Did I mention that it was build from the ground up and optimized for Panther so everything works, feel and look great. Solid I tell you. Ok, so you got all your favorites into your Shelf (Books, CD, DVD) and now what do you do for search? You could launch a query by typing Name of the book or the author or the genre; nothing new here, pretty standard you say....OK...
How about instead of that you just use the Voice command Navigation Menu...and since it's no IBM Voice Module, it really works! Impressive. How about you just decide that all of this is to complicated (and who would blame you poor thing?!)
Then go for it, just browse the content of your "Shelf" using the "Cover Browsing"option....Wow! said the Slack Dog!
Speaking of "Slack" ounce you are over imputing your data, Delicious Library automatically synch it to your iPod, leaving you with a permanent trace of all your stuff, no other set-up or effort needed. Now that's slack! And by the way in my vocabulary "Slack" means "Cool" or is it the other way around ?

One Last Thing

I won't even bother mentioning all of the features, let's just say that you will have to try it yourself to discover all that comes with this app. and I won't even talk price because it's way to low to mention and I am afraid that if I do, two things might happen: 1) You won't think that it's wort the download 2) That the developer might change it's mind and start charging more..
So Mums the word!

The Mac mini is a amazing piece of technology, but what if you want to commute with it? Where will you end up putting it in?
Your Backpack? Your attache case? Will you wrap it in a towel so it won't get scratched? That is not a easy one......

Lucky of us Mac mini lovers, someone as a answer, and guess who it is....
No not Targus,.........no not Marware.............You give up? Might as well!

It's our friends (ounce again) that are leading the pack.......The kind folks at SF Bags have came up with a great solution;
The Mac mini case. Build to last this elegant case fits the Mac mini like a glove. It is the best protection money can buy for your Mac Mini Bar None. Comes complete with a mandatory shoulder strap and looks a lot like a binoculars bag.
